Travertine is very low maintenance. Regular cleaning with water and a mild cleaner is all that is needed for most applications. Sealing is completely optional — it can enhance the color and provide extra stain protection, but it is not required. If you choose to seal, we recommend having it done by a professional. Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach, as travertine is a porous natural stone that can be affected by acidic cleaners over time.

Our most popular sizes are 12x24, 16x24, and Versailles (French) Pattern. Select colors also come in 12x12. We carry Roman Pattern as well. Versailles Pattern is the most popular for pool decks and patios — it creates a classic, timeless layout that has been used in European architecture for centuries. Both Versailles and Roman patterns must be purchased in complete bundles.

Versailles Pattern — also called French Pattern — is an 8 square foot set containing four different paver sizes: 2 pieces of 8x8, 2 pieces of 16x16, 1 piece of 8x16, and 1 piece of 16x24. This combination creates a repeating layout with a classic, old-world look that is the most popular pattern for travertine pool decks and patios in Houston. Versailles pattern must be purchased in complete bundles to maintain the correct piece ratio.

Roman Pattern is also an 8 square foot set, consisting of 6 pieces of 6x12, 4 pieces of 6x6, and 4 pieces of 12x12. It creates a slightly different repeating layout than Versailles and works well for walkways, smaller patios, and areas where a different visual rhythm is desired. Like Versailles, Roman Pattern must be purchased in complete bundles.

All three are natural stone, but they have different properties. Travertine is the least slippery of the three and stays coolest in the sun — making it the most popular choice for Houston pool decks. Bluestone marble is more slick and tends to get hotter, though sandblasted marble has more texture for better grip.
